New for 2021, Brian’s Custom Sports has released the Intermediate offshore version of the widely popular Brian’s Optik 2 line, the Brian’s Optik X2 Intermediate Goalie Catcher. Starting off with the face of the Brian’s Optik X2, the graphic features a similar graphic to the domestic Optik 2. With aggressive lines and edges, mixed with strategic polymesh vents, this graphic really stands out. Moving on to the build of the Optik X2, a one piece cuff design gives a naturally large appearance for better visual representation to the shooter. On to the pocket and closure, a redesigned shape on the build with a single T creates a deep large pocket for the goaltender to further help with visual representation and catching surface that will help naturally guide pucks in to the pocket. Topping off the pocket, the same 40 degree break angle from the Optik predecessors is implemented to give the goaltender a closure that is generated by the goalies fingers and finger tips, but has a break that aligns the palm that gives a game ready feel. Internally on the Optik X2 Intermediate, a grip material is used through the hand to provide a comfortable feel that provides grip when the goaltender’s hand sweats. On the wrist area, a floating wrist pad that sits slightly off the base of the catcher is utilized to give the goaltender maximum flexibility when reaching toward pucks, along with a nylon strap pulls over top that is easily accessible for quick adjustments. On the back of the hand, a pad sits over the top below the fingers with an adjustable strap to provide the tightness the goaltender prefers. Capping off this entire design is Brian’s Airknit finger gussets to help promote breathability and airflow throughout use.
